Indian Canadians (and other South Asian fans of Bollywood and Kollywood) don't anymore have to go hunting for those niche Indian shops to buy their videos.
Eros International has just announced distribution collaboration with one of the largest retail giants in the world, Wal-Mart, to sell Bollywood content through their network in Canada.
Eros is also expected to add Tamil movie titles in this, as are stakeholders of Ayangaran International, one of the largest holders of Tamil movie titles. This is an obviously major mainstream DVD distribution breakthrough. Eros DVD will now be available in a many as 27 Wal-Mart stores across Canada. The President of Eros International, USA, Ken Naz had this to say about the tie-up: "Bollywood as an entertainment category is growing rapidly internationally. Canada is a very important market for us for cinema as well as DVD distribution. We are very excited to be working with Wal-Mart in Canada as it will enable widespread availability of quality DVDs at affordable prices to consumers."
That is not all from Wal-Mart concerning Bollywood. This retail giant will now carry a new line of authentic South Asian women's clothing called Bollywood Signature. To celebrate the launch, Wal-Mart will host a fashion show in Brampton, Ontario, with Bollywood as its theme.
