Actor Saif Ali Khan had a horrifying experience recently with the horse that he was supposed to ride for his forthcoming film Race in South Africa.
The story goes that Saif was not accustomed to the race horse and the clap stick would make the horse nervous, adding to the actor's woes. However, because Saif had prior knowledge of horse riding, he could escape unhurt when his horse went berserk during the shoot one day. According to directors, Abbas-Mustan, the scene demanded that Saif mount the horse and get off after riding it for a while. When the clap was given, the horse got scared and is believed to have reacted wildly by lifting both his fore legs in mid-air and generally going berserk. But thankfully, Saif had some knowledge about riding and escaped unhurt. Gradually, the ranch owner persuaded Saif to spend a few days in befriending the aggressive and burly race horses. The actor's morning routine consisted of feeding the horses with carrots and accompanying them on short walks. The ranch owner told the directors that if the actors wanted to ride the horses, they would have to first befriend them or else they would never get their act right. As Saif had many sequences with the horses, he had to spend more than ten days in befriending them, until they finally got accustomed to him. Of course, there was a professional handler along with Saif as well.
