Sanjay Dutt is all set to play the role of Amitabh Bachchan in the remake of Raj Sippy's Satte Pe Satta, titled Seven.
Apparently, Satte Pe Satta is one of Sanju's favourite films. Sanju and Raj held long discussions on the film. When Satte Pe Satta was released, Sanju had just made his entry into Bollywood with his film Rocky. Even though he was basking in the glory of his newfound stardom, he found time to watch the Amitabh Bachchan starrer many times. According to sources, it was Sanju who came up with the idea of doing a remake of the film. Sanju was Raj's obvious choice for the lead role which was played by Raj Sippy. Sanju is very kicked about doing the film. Raj Sippy is considering Rani Mukherjee to play the female lead role which was played by Hema Malini in the original. Raj wishes to cast Rani in the lead and Vidya Balan in Ranjeeta's role. Sippy confirmed that the remake was on track. He said that Sanju and he had worked out the major details of the film and only have to seal the deal. Sippy and Sanju share a good rapport as they worked together in Thanedaar. However, the remake will have a slight difference. Instead of the seven brothers as in the original, the remake will have four brothers and three sisters. The rest of the cast, besides Sanju, is yet to be finalized. Satte Pe Satta is an adaptation of the Hollywood hit Seven Brides For Seven Brothers.
