Akshay Kumar is literally crossing over to Hollywood. In producer Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakht Ishq, Akshay plays a Hollywood stuntman and the film will be shot in Universal Studios of Hollywood, the first Indian film to be shot there.
Nadiadwala reveals that not only have they got the permission to shoot within the studio but also to use their logo. Akshay plays a stuntman from Universal. After doing back-to back comedies last year, Akshay seems to be hellbent on making 2008 his year of action films. Apart from this film, the actor will be seen in Nikhil Advani's action flick, Chandni Chowk to China. For Kambakht Ishq, the producer has roped in a new director Sabir Khan to helm the film. It will also star 12 to 15 leading actors from Hollywood in various parts. According to Nadiawala, shooting for the film will not be an easy task. He admits that it will be an expensive affair as they have some 40-50 crewmen flying to LA. This is Nadiadwala's most ambitious film to date with a budget of Rs 600 million. It also stars Kareena Kapoor. Speaking about his new director, Nadiadwala says that Sabir grew up in front of him and has assisted in his productions like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. Recently, the producer has been signing a lot of new directors like Imtiaz Ali, Siddharth Anand and Sabir. Siddharth's film will probably star Saif Ali Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. It will not be a routine candyfloss film, he asserts. Imtiaz is set to make a film for him in March-April 2009 and it will probably be a romance. Meanwhile, it is being rumoured that Nadiawala is trying a casting coup of sorts by trying to rope in Beyonce and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Hollywood hunk is supposed to make a cameo appearance in the film as an action hero. Beyonce is supposed to play an international pop star. Though it is known that Nadiawala has made several visits to Hollywood and even written to Schwarzenegger's office, there has been no official announcement as yet.
