The coming Friday will see an almost open week with no significant releases. There are a couple of names like the Urdu film from Pakistan, SALAKHAIN and Ramsay's KHANDALA HOUSE, which has already released and flopped in the Northern parts of the country. The only known film that was listed for release was Mimoh Chakraborty's JIMMY, but that has now been postponed to the 16th of May.

The much awaited contest between Ajay Devgan's directorial debut venture, U ME AUR HUM and Rakesh Roshan's Jaideep Sen directed KRAZZY 4, went exactly as we had predicted in our last column. The 25 crore Ajay-Kajol starrer, U Me AUR HUM had a dull Friday in Bombay and outside of Bombay, the opening was weak almost everywhere. Thankfully, the film picked up on both Saturday and Sunday, but fell again on Monday. On the other hand, the 18-20 crore Juhi, Arshad, Irrfan, Suresh and Rajpal starrer, KRAZZY 4, took the initial honours getting a good first day in Bombay and the opening was good almost everywhere. KRAZZY 4 held on to its collections quite well during the weekend, though it had a big fall on Monday. In the Overseas, Kajol's presence assured that U ME AUR HUM dominated KRAZZY 4. In the UK, U ME AUR HUM grossed $338,281 as compared to KRAZZY 4's $127,384, while in the US, once again U ME AUR HUM impressed by grossing $642,923 as compared to $322,426 for KRAZZY 4.

Coming to SHAURYA, the Samar Khan directed film, impressed with its performance despite a limited release . The film collected 35 lakhs from Bombay, 4.05 lakhs from Pune, 25 lakhs from Delhi, 5.50 lakhs from Noida, 4.20 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 1.40 lakhs from Kanpur, 6.65 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.65 lakhs from Faridabad, 7.65 lakhs from Calcutta 1.10 lakhs from Nagpur, 3 lakhs from Indore and 6 lakhs (approx) from Hyderabad. The Rahul Bose, Kay Kay Menon, Jaaved Jafferi, Minissha Lamba and Deepak Dobriyal starrer SHAURYA netted slightly less than 2 crores in India during its opening week. Given the low budget and release costs, the film is on way to being an average fare at the box-office.

BHRAM is supreme disaster, having netted less than 50 lakhs during its opening week in India. Just for stats, the film collected 13.15 lakhs from Bombay, 2.55 lakhs from Delhi and 1.60 lakhs from Ghaziabad.

The Naseeruddin Shah starrer KHUDA KAY LIYE (from Pakistan), picked up but not enough to succeed. During the week the Shoaib Mansoor directed film collected close to 30 lakhs from Bombay, 7 lakhs from Delhi, 1.75 lakhs from Noida, 1.80 lakhs from Gurgaon and 2.15 lakhs from Hyderabad. KHUDA KAY LIYE netted around 80 lakhs in its first week from India and is likely to be a commercial failure in India.

Ashwani Dhir's comedy flick ONE TWO THREE, featuring Sunil Shetty, Tusshar Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Upen Patel, Esha Deol, Sameera Reddy , Tanisha Mukherjee and Neetu Chandra, continued its merry run! Checking out the numbers ONE TWO THREE collected 85 lakhs from Bombay, 1.10 lakhs from Himmatnagar, 2.70 lakhs from Jamnagar, 2.75 lakhs from Bhavnagar, 6.65 lakhs from Rajkot, 1.35 lakhs from Porbandar 1.55 lakhs from Gandhidham, 1.25 lakhs from Adipur, 4.70 lakhs from Pune, 1.25 lakhs from Solapur, 3 lakhs from Nasik, 50 lakhs from Delhi city, 6.65 lakhs from Noida, 11.80 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 4.75 lakhs from Kanpur, 9.15 lakhs from Lucknow, 2.25 lakhs from Agra, 1 lakh from Meerut, 1.60 lakhs from Moradabad, 2 lakhs from Agra, 8.50 lakhs from Gurgaon, 5.20 lakhs from Faridabad, 7.70 lakhs from Calcutta, 1 lakh from Guwahati, 5 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.80 lakhs from Amravati, 1.45 lakhs from Raipur, 4.85 lakhs from Indore, 20 lakhs (approx.) from Jaipur, 1.60 lakhs (gross) from Ajmer, and 10 lakhs (approx.) from Hyderabad. Though the collections fell hard, ONE TWO THREE managed another 6 crores and that means it has netted nearly 17 crores in two weeks from India. ONE TWO THREE is now touching the semi hit status from India. Given its low costs, ONE TWO THREE is also a decent success in the Overseas , grossing $229,209 from the UK and $274,589 from US (up to April 3).

The collections of RACE continue to fall but the movie has already managed huge returns . During the week, the Abbas-Mustan directed Tips venture RACE collected 1.05 crores from Bombay, 1 lakh from Himmatnagar, 8.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 2.70 lakhs from Jamnagar, 1.40 lakhs from Bhavnagar, 1.35 lakhs from Gandhidham, 7.45 lakhs from Pune, 1.75 lakhs from Solapur, 3.20 lakhs from Nasik, 84 lakhs from Delhi, 13 lakhs from Noida, 15.05 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 7.90 lakhs from Kanpur, 11.90 lakhs from Lucknow, 3.15 lakhs from Agra, 1.60 lakhs from Meerut, 2.05 lakhs from Moradabad, 1.30 lakhs from Bareilly, 14.80 lakhs from Gurgaon, 2.45 lakhs from Faridabad, 32 lakhs from Calcutta, 2.30 lakhs from Guwahati, 8.55 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.45 lakhs from Jabalpur, 2.10 lakhs from Amravati, 1.20 lakhs from Akola, 1.10 from Raipur, 7.70 lakhs from Indore, 18.05 lakhs from Jaipur, 1.50 lakhs (gross) from Ajmer, 24.25 lakhs from Hyderabad and 1.50 lakhs from Warangal. RACE adds another 7.50 crores during the week. The Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna , Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy starrer RACE has so far netted 58.50 crores in three weeks from India and that means that it has now moved past the semi-hit status from India. The UTV distributed RACE is also a good hit in the Overseas, having grossed $1,692,902 from UK and $1,367,024 from US.

Ashutosh Gowariker's JODHAA AKBAR had another steady week to boast of . During the week JODHAA AKBAR collected 8 lakhs from Bombay, 5.50 lakhs from Delhi, 1.30 lakhs from Noida, 1.35 lakhs from Kucknow, 1.10 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1 lakh from Indore and 4.40 lakhs from Hyderabad. With another 65 lakhs during its latest outing from India, JODHAA AKBAR has so far netted 62 crores in eight weeks from India. The Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer is all set to achieve the superhit status in India. JODHAA AKBAR is already a blockbuster in the Overseas, having grossed $2,003,157 from the UK and $3,440,718 from the US.
