Ritiesh Deshmukh got his first major hit in the form of Inder Kumar's holds-no-bar MASTI (2004) which was his third release after TUJHE MERI KASAM (average) and OUT OF CONTROL (flop). Meanwhile, around the same time Aftab Shivdasani too had his stocks soaring as his partnership with Riteish in MASTI was much appreciated.The two went on to do MR. YA MISS and though both were quite competent in their respective acts, this bizarre comedy directed by Antara Mali was a loser at the box office.
Still, with comedy being their forte, it was imperative that the two return together again. This is when E Niwas, director of films like SHOOL, LOVE KE LIYE KUCH BHI KAREGA (that also starred Aftab) and BARDAASTH (with Riteish as Bobby Deol's younger brother), decided to get them together in his film DE TAALI.
Produced by Ravi Walia, this youth entertainer features Ayesha Takia and Rimi Sen as the pretty girls who are paired with Aftab and Riteish. Earlier titled JALSA, the film has been in the making for a little while but has now been confirmed for 20th June release. With music by Vishal-Shekhar considered to be a major highlight of the film, DE TAALI makes one once again look forward to the comic camaraderie between Aftab and Ritiesh.
