Bollywood's disastrous run at the box office continues unabated. Last Friday saw three releases, Ananth Mahadevan's Anamika, Deepak Shivdasani's Mr White Mr Black and Hirdesh Kamble's Pranali: The Tradition, all of which had a disastrous opening at the box office.
Among the three, Mahadevan's Anamika fared the best with an opening of 15 to 20 percent. Pranali and Mr White Mr Black had an abysmally low opening of just five percent. Matters are not likely to improve or pick up and the collections are likely to see a further dip in as the days go by. Despite getting a multiplex release this week, Yash Raj Film's star studded Tashan is another disaster despite the presence of big stars like Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, all three of who are otherwise enjoying the best period in their careers Saif is finally a reckoner at the box office following the success of Race; Kareena's back in the reckoning after Jab We Met and Akshay Kumar has been ruling the roost last year with four hits. Next week, will see the release of the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Bhootnath and Jimmy, where Mithun Chakraborty's son Mimoh will make his debut.
