Mumbai, May 8 (IANS) National Award winning actor Mithun Chakraborty's son, Mimoh, who is debuting with 'Jimmy', releasing Friday, says he won't be able to match his father's versatility ever.

'Daddy's acting range is so vast that I will not be to match it ever. He could play Ramkrishna Paramhans as convincingly as he could play a don. Of the recent stars, I am a great fan of Sunny Deol, Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapur,' Mimoh told IANS in an interview.

However, the young actor has no pre-release jitters.

'Not at all. I don't want to sound a braggart, but I have done my best in 'Jimmy' and I am sure people will like my performance in it.'

Asked if his father gave him acting tips, Mimoh said: 'He only said 'be honest to yourself, to your profession and try to give a hundred percent to it'.'

Mimoh has been signed by Popcorn Entertainment for 'Loot,' which also has Suniel Shetty, Govinda and Javed Jaffrey in the cast and he is in producer-director Salim Akhtar's next movie as well.

Excerpts from an interview:

Q: You were a roly-poly kid. But, today, you are fit as a fiddle. Did you get this physical transformation in order to break into movies?

A: When I was a child, it had never occurred to me that I might become an actor one day. How could a fat boy become an actor? I thought I would never be able to lose weight.

At that time my ambition was to become a space scientist. I read about NASA and wanted to be a part of it. Today, what I say may sound bombastic, but that was my thought process as a child.

Q: At what stage did the thought process change?

A: The change came over me when I was in high school.

Q: Your friends might have been in awe of you because you were a son of star parents.

A: I took the stardom of my parents for granted. I became aware of it when people referred to it. My parents brought me up as a normal child.

Q: Did your parents ask you to consider taking up acting as a profession when you grew up?

A: Daddy did when his good friend, producer-director B. Subhash, called him up and said he would like to cast me in one of his movies. Subhashji had made the trend-setting 'Disco Dancer' with my daddy and so he weighed the proposal seriously.

He asked me would I be interested. When I said, yes, he told me to shed my fat, keep off the MacDonald burgers I was addicted to, do the workouts and diet to keep my body fit. For about three years, I followed his instructions and gradually I started looking the way I am today. Daddy sent me to the New York Film Academy to do a short course in acting.

Q: Did your father also give you acting tips when you decided to turn professional?

A: He only said 'be honest to yourself, to your profession and try to give a hundred percent to it'.

Daddy's acting range is so vast that I will not be able to match it ever. He could play Ramkrishna Paramhans as convincingly as he could play a don. Of the recent stars, I am a great fan of Sunny Deol, Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapur.

Q: And of the actress?

A: Priyanka Chopra, of course!

Q: What is 'Jimmy' all about?

A: The movie is of a thriller genre. I play the title role Jimmy, an automobile engineer who is a DJ at night. I am paired opposite debutante Vivvana. How an incident changes the course of Jimmy's life is what, in short, the movie is all about. Sorry, I am not allowed to give more details than this.

Q: What's up in the future?

A: I have already been signed by Popcorn Entertainment for 'Loot', which also has Suniel Shetty, Govinda and Javed Jaffrey in the cast. I will also do producer-director Salim Akhtar's next movie. Talks are going on with many other producers.

Q: Any pre-release jitters as 'Jimmy' will hit the screen tomorrow?

A: Not at all. I don't want to sound a braggart, but I have done my best in 'Jimmy' and I am sure people will like my performance in it.
