As we had said last week, the Bhatts seem to have hit the bulls-eye with their latest Emraan Hashmi starrer. Yes, the lovely start of the Kunal Deshmukh directed JANNAT has gladdened the hearts of the industry people, more so because the film does not boast of star names, but Pritam and Kamran Ahmad's hit music and the cricket fever seems to have done the trick, not to forget the super publicity. While the opening day was good in Mumbai, it was very good outside of Mumbai. JANNAT has also performed reasonably well in the UK, for an Emraan Hashmi starrer, grossing $96,371 during the first weekend.

Ravi Chopra's Vivek Sharma directed BHOOTHNATH picked up after a reasonable start as the weekend progressed, but collections dropped considerably from Monday onwards. Surprisingly, the Amitabh Bachchan starrer has some decent numbers to show, despite the IPL fever! During the week BHOOTHNATH collected 3.10 crores from Mumbai, 77 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 4.20 lakhs from Baroda, 1.35 lakhs from Patan, 1 lakh each from Palanpur and Bhuj, 1.40 lakhs from Himmatnagar, 8.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 2.85 lakhs from Jamnagar, 4.30 lakhs from Bhavnagar, 14.20 lakhs from Pune, 1.25 lakhs from Solapur, 1.85 lakhs from Gandhidham, 1.15 lakhs from Adipur, 2 lakhs from Sangli, 8.50 lakhs from Nasik, 1.55 crores from Delhi city, 21 lakhs from Noida, 26 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 10.20 lakhs from Kanpur, 20 lakhs from Lucknow, 4.40 lakhs from Agra, 5.50 lakhs from Meerut, 2.80 lakhs from Moradabad, 1.70 lakhs from Bareilly, 1.10 lakhs from Aligarh, 21.50 lakhs from Gurgaon, 9.75 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.85 lakhs from Panipat, 57 lakhs from Calcutta, 2.50 lakhs from Guwahati, 14.10 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.70 lakhs from Jabalpur, 1.50 lakhs from Amravati, 2.05 lakhs from Dhule, 1.20 lakhs from Raipur, 1.80 lakhs from Durg, 1 lakh from Bhandara, 20 lakhs from Indore, 1.10 lakhs from Sehore, 7.55 lakhs from Jaipur, 2.40 lakhs (gross) from Ajmer, 2 lakhs from Bikaner, 4.80 lakhs from Mangalore and 25 lakhs from Hyderabad. During its opening week, the Amitabh, Juhi, Aman and SRK (special appearance) starrer manages a healthy 14.50 crores from India. Given its reasonable 19-20 crore budget, that is a fairly decent start! However, BHOOTHNATH has failed to impress the Overseas with ordinary grosses of $278,083 and $375,509 from UK and US respectively.

The debut vehicle of Mithun's son, Mimoh, went the expected way. The movie titled, JIMMY had only poor collections to show with 7.10 lakhs from Mumbai, 3.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.35 lakhs from Rajkot, 13.25 lakhs from Delhi city, 3.70 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 2.05 lakhs from Kanpur, 2 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.05 lakhs from Agra, 1.10 lakhs from Nagpur, 1 lakh from Raipur, 1.40 lakhs from Jaipur and 7 lakhs( approx) from Hyderabad. The Mimoh Chakraborty starrer fails miserably, netting just around 1.25 crores from India, during its first week.

MR. WHITE MR. BLACK continues to crash, after a poor opening week. The film collected 3.60 lakhs from Mumbai, 1.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad and 1.70 lakhs from Delhi city. The Arshad Warsi, Suneil Shetty and Sandhya Mridul starrer manages barely 25 lakhs more and so it has netted a poor 3 crores in two weeks from India. The result is that the Deepak Shivdasani directed film is a resounding flop, both in India and Overseas.

Yash Raj Films' Vijay Krishna Acharya directed multi-starrer, TASHAN, continues to tumble. The film collected 38 lakhs from Mumbai, 14 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.20 lakhs from Himmatnagar, 1.30 lakhs from Patan, 1.10 lakhs from Jamnagar, 2.20 lakhs from Pune, 1.65 lakhs from Nasik, 23.40 lakhs from Delhi city, 4.05 lakhs from Noida, 7.30 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 4.25 lakhs from Kanpur, 6.65 lakhs from Lucknow, 1,80 lakhs from Agra, 1.25 lakhs from Moradabad, 1.45 lakhs from Aligarh, 4.20 lakhs from Gurgaon, 2.60 lakhs from Faridabad, 2.15 lakhs from Nagpur, 9.10 lakhs from Jaipur, 7.30 lakhs from Hyderabad and 175 lakhs from Aurangabad. Adding another 3.75 crores, TASHAN has so far netted around 29.25 crores in three weeks from India. The Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer manages to reduce some losses for Yash Raj Films, thanks to the Hindi belt! TASHAN has also been rejected in the Overseas, with poor grosses of $682,463 and $457,380 from UK and US respectively.

Our last entry of the week is Ajay Devgan's directorial venture, U ME AUR HUM. The movie is on its last legs in India, collecting 8.10 lakhs from Mumbai, 3.10 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 5.15 lakhs from Delhi city, 1 lakh from Ghaziabad and 1.25 lakhs from Gurgaon. With another 45 lakhs during its latest outing, U ME AUR HUM has netted 23.45 crores in five weeks from India. The Ajay-Kajol starrer remains in the average to below average category. U ME AUR HUM is a good success in the Overseas.
