Five Indian films at Iran's Hamedan international festival

Hamedan (Iran), June 20 (IANS) Five Indian films will be screened in panorama section of the 22nd Hamedan International Children and Young Adults Film Festival opening Saturday in the north Iranian city, IRNA reported Friday.

The films include The Will to Win (2007, Rishi Deshpande), Mahek (2007, Kranti Kanada), Hide-N-Seek (2006, Vinod Ganata), A Home in the Sky (2007, Bipin Nadkami), and Heda-Hoda (Here-There, V.Gantara).

The festival will run till June 25.

Indian and Iranian cinemas have a brisk exchange programme and each year at India's Hyderabad International Film Festival, Iranian films have a distinguished presence> these have also been awarded many times.

Mehr News Agency added: Some 272 films will compete in 16 sections of the Hamedan film festival.

Over 130 films from 39 foreign countries, including Argentina, Germany, the US, Austria, Spain, France, Serbia, South Korea, Canada, and Croatia, will be screened during the festival, a festival official said.

Representatives from foreign film distribution companies, educational centres, and the Unicef will attend the event.

Jimmy Hayward and Steve Martino's 'Horton Hears a Who!', Brad Bird and Jan Pinkava's 'Ratatouille', Steve Hickner and Simon J. Smith's 'Bee Movie', and Tim Hill's 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' are some of the foreign animation films that will be screened at the festival.
