New York, June 23 (ANI): In a move to safeguard the memory of dead celebrities from greedy profiteers, Screen Actors Guild is calling for a legislation that would prevent the unauthorized use of deceased stars' images on T-shirts and other stuff.

Hollywood's elite and the Screen Actors Guild are pressing Albany to approve the proposed legislation, which would work towards protecting the memory of celebrities from greedy profiteers.

Once the law is passed, action will be taken against those who create and sell unauthorized T-shirts or knickknacks using the images, voices or names of dead celebrities.

All law-breakers would face a misdemeanour charge, and the shield would last for 70 years after a celebrity's death, reports the New York Daily News. (ANI)
