Not many know that actor Naseeruddin Shah and wife Ratna are family friends with actor Aamir Khan. In fact, their son, Imaad and Aamir's nephew, Imran, are childhood friends. So when Imran was making his debut with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Aamir managed the casting coup of Naseer and Ratna in the film.
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na will feature Naseer and Ratna, real life husband and wife, portraying reel life spouses as well. In the film, they will be playing Imran's parents. Initially, Ratna was cast in the role of the mother and it seems that she was the one who suggested that they rope in Naseer to play her husband in the movie. As for Ratna, director Abbas Tyrewala is believed to have been quite floored by Imran's mother Nuzhat, who use to hang out on the sets. Ratna's character has been totally modeled on her. In fact, Tyrewala wanted Ratna to copy her hairstyle and mannerisms as well.
