Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy and Farhan Akhtar rocked audiences with their magnificent live performance during the music launch of ROCK ON. The general public along with the media witnessed this mesmerizing one-of-a-kind music launch of their new film, ROCK ON! Directed by Abhishek Kapoor and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, ROCK ON!! also marks the debut of Farhan Akhtar and Prachi Desai. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Shahana Goswami and Luke Kenny. Proud father Javed Akhtar, along with Big Music representative Kulmeet Makkar unveiled the music album.

ROCK ON!! is already making a mark with audiences, with its innovative and fresh concept since the trailers hit the screens a month ago. And this unique music launch concert has added an extra zing to the novelty of this film.

Abhishek, the film's director, has this to say about the music," Everyday of recording the music was an exploration into something fresh, radical and original. Our music directors Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy took to the script like fish to water and gave it a powerhouse soundtrack straight from the heart. Working with Javed Saab was a complete revelation. He has a unique way with words - measuring them for their texture and fragrance. All in all, I had a blast making the film and am sure it'll have the same effect on you. 'Rock On!!'"

With an impressive track record of producing hit soundtracks together, Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy, Javed Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar have now created another power packed album in ROCK ON!!. The album consists of nine tracks, of which Farhan Akhtar has sung five, himself.

Commenting on making music for this film, producer, Ritesh Sidhwani said, "ROCK ON!! will be a cult film. The experience of creating music for this film has been fascinating and exhilarating...and when you have a team like Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy and Javed saab, we really didn't have too worry much. We've worked with them earlier so the process of creating music was all the more fun. ROCK ON!! is a youth oriented film, so the music needed a distinct sound, keeping in mind contemporary appeal along with melodious tracks, which these music maestros have woven together effortlessly."

To give the film and its characters authenticity, the actors underwent personalized training for their portrayal of the band members. Purab Kohli trained with Lindsay D'Mello on drums, Arjun Rampal trained with Chandresh from the band 'Dream out Loud', Luke Kenny worked with Loy and Farhan trained with Shankar for vocals and Ehsaan for rhythm guitar.

ROCK ON!! is a story about four friends who put together the greatest band this country had ever seen but never made it. Years later, fate conspires to bring them together again and set them on a journey back to where they left off. A soul-searching pilgrimage into their past.

The film is directed by Abhishek Kapoor, produced Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment and presented with Big Pictures.
