Danseuse and actor Shobana, in a press conference held yesterday, said that she is working on building a dance school – Kalarpana. The school will be located in the heart of the city – Alwarpet – and will have all the latest facilities including an air-conditioned hall to conduct dance performances.

It is estimated that the building would cost about Rs. 3 crores and Shobana had spent about Rs. 2.5 crores for this project, which she considers is close to her heart. Shobana, in an effort to complete the building, has planned to conduct a dance show – Maya Ravan - in the Music Academy on July 18th.

The proceeds of this dance show would be utilized to build the dance school, she said in the press conference.

Naseeruddin Shah, Jackie Shroff, Milind Soman, Suhasini Maniratnam, Revathy, Rohini, Tabu and other famous film personalities will narrate the dance sequences in English, Shobana added. "Kalarpana is a tribute to my aunts Padmini, Rahini and Lalitha," said Shobana.
