When Ram Gopal Verma decides to wield the microphone on an issue as burning and as contemporary as the convergence of underworld and terrorism then magic is the only expectation. He has his credentials to prove so, be it SHIVA or COMPANY. The grip on the subject that Ram Gopal Verma has could be one of the reasons why PVR Films has decided to associate itself with Ram Gopal Verma. It would be for the first time that PVR is entering into the world of noire as a producer, as so far it has tasted success in soft films like TAARE ZAMEEN PAR and JAANE TU YA JAANE NA.

For a country like India, which is facing the pangs of this heady combination all across the country, CONTRACT would be a timely reminder to have a reality check and not allow the things to precipitate any further or else it would be too late for the country. The use of the nursery rhymes, "Twinkle twinkle little star... serves a pithy comment on the situation in a very poignant manner.

Subjects of crime and terrorism serve the purpose when starts do not over ride the character, and this is what has been attempted in CONTRACT. Consciously, Ramu has not picked up any new established stars to deliver the message but has given a chance for the characters to talk about themselves. This is what had done magic for him in SATYA AND COMPANY as well, where a Manoj Bajpayee and a Vivek Oberoi had delivered the goods with panache. Advantage of picking up characters lies in the fact that all of the characters get importance in equal proportions. Ramu has also come up with a new novelty in the film that the role of the Police Commissioner has been given to a female character and it may emerge as a USP for the film, as it is for the first time probably where in a crime film, a female character is performing the role of a Police Commissioner.

For the sake of Ramu and for forging a long term relationship between Ramu and PVR to have more hard hitting films of this time being produced on a regular basis, let us hope that this film hits a bull's eye as well like its earlier siblings, SATYA and COMPANY.
