This week saw two films, Mission Istanbul and Money Hai Toh Honey Hai release at the box office. Unfortunately neither of the two films could create any impact at the box office.
Not much was expected of Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, which is produced by Kumar Mangat and directed by Ganesh Acharya. But there was quite a bit of hype surrounding Apoorva Lakhia's Mission Istanbul. The film had a lackluster opening. The first day collections of the film were said to be in the 20 to 25 per cent area. The film did not manage to pick up even during the weekend. The other film, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, did even worse at the box office. It had a poor opening of only 15 to 20 per cent. But last week's release, the Shahid Kapur and Vidya Balan starrer Kismat Konnection picked up business initially but then its collections fell after the weekend. But because of its good initial, the film seems to have done fairly good business. Last week's second release, Ram Gopal Varma's Contract, was a dud from the word go. But Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na proved to be a winner even in its third week. Next week, sees two releases lined up one is PNC's Ugly Aur Pagli and the other is Mukhbir. The highlights of the PNC movie are of course its cast which consists of Mallika Sherawat and Ranvir Shorey. Mukhbir is a film which is based on the underworld and stars Sammir Dattani.
