Mumbai/New Delhi, August 1 (ANI): Bollywood film 'Ugly aur Pagli' released to a tremendous response across the country.

Rangita Pritish Nandy and Pritish Nandy have produced the film.

Sachin Khot is making his debut as a director with this film that stars Mallika Sherawat, Ranvir Shorey, Tinu Anand, Sushmita Mukherjee, Zeenat Aman and Payal Rohatgi.

Percept Picture Company has tied up with Pritish Nandy Communications to distribute worldwide the forthcoming PNC film 'Ugly Aur Pagli'.

The story of the film 'Ugly Aur Pagli' revolves around a carefree guy named Kabir, the role essayed by Ranvir Shourey, who has been studying engineering for the last ten years now. His life undergoes a drastic change when he meets a girl named Kuhu being played by Mallika Sherawat.

Kabir always wanted a girl to love but he never in his wildest dreams thought he would encounter a girl who could make him dance around circles, run semi naked, ride cycles without seats and wear high heeled ladies shoes.

Cine lovers from across the city were seen thronging the ticket counter of the cinema halls to watch first day first show of this film.

One such cine lover Pranvi who was coming out of the up market cinema hall of New Delhi said she really liked the work of Mallika Sherawat in the movie.

"Performance of the actors in the movie is good Mallika Sherawat in particular was good. The film had awesome music," said Pranvi.

Seen echoing the similar sentiments was Bharti Bhalla, a middle-aged cine lover.

"I don't know why they (critics) say she (Mallika Sherawat) is bad. You have to leave your brain at home and just enjoy this film," said Bharti.

Noted film critic Mayank Shekhar however was of different opinion and said that Mallika Sherawat was an overrated actress.

"In the case of Mallika Sherawat if she has acted in a film like 'Myth', which is a Jackie Chan movie, and his movies are not about actresses there is hardly anything great about it. On top of that Mallika Sherawat was not playing the lead heroine in that movie. So I think a lot is made out of it and lot of publicity is garnered in Indian Press over it and I don't think they have (Indian actresses) reached that place as we made them out to be," Mayank Shekhar.

The screenplay of the film is by Anil Pandey and Suparn Verma.

Music director of the film is Annu Malik while Amitabh Varma has penned the lyrics.

Plethora of singers like British pop sensation Hard Kaur, Mika Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Vasundhara Das and Mohit Chouhan have lent their melodious voice to the songs of this film. (ANI)
