The two warring parties, UTV and Percept Motion Pictures, who have been caught in a legal battle over the film Johnny Mastana, being made later as Shoebite, is expected to be settled in an out of court settlement.
The idea is believed to have been suggested by UTV, against whom the Delhi High Court ruled in their injunction. They have been stopped from going ahead with the film until the final verdict. But the film is almost 60 per cent complete so UTV is caught in a fix as they would not like to abandon the project. It seems that UTV is willing to offer Percept a sizeable amount of money as settlement in return for the entire set up, which will include the story, the director Shoojit Sircar and Amitabh Bachchan. It is being rumoured that a settlement will be hammered in before the next hearing. Percept was originally making a film called Johnny Walker, starring the Big B and to be directed by Sircar. But the project fell through. Sircar took the project to UTV, who agreed to produce it with the Big B. But this time it was named Shoebite, now changed to Johnny Mastana.
