Director Sasikumar and Jai met the press on August 6th to share their joy over Subramaniyapurams success. As Sasikumar put it, it was more of a thanksgiving ceremony where the team expressed its gratitude to the audience and the media fraternity for their support to the film.
Sasikumar enthralled the media personnel with his humility and refined manners in the press meet. He revealed that he had some apprehension about the films acceptance and never expected such a huge success. The humble director claimed that the publicity given by the media about the films theme, the director's attempt, the actors' dedication, and the promotional song made the public sit up and take notice of this film. He had never thought that a small-time film, which he believes Subramaniyapuram is, would ever get such recognition from the media or audience, especially with many big-time movies playing or releasing in the same season. He thanked the audience profusely for accepting the theme and making it a grand success.
Subramaniyapuram (also spelt as Subramaniapuram) has been running in packed cinema halls ever since it was released. It was released in a small number of theatres initially but now it is being screened in many major theatres of the city. The film has tasted stupendous success throughout the state. Everyone who has seen this film, including the Kollywood greats like directors Bala, Ameer and Balaji Sakthivel, appreciated it profusely. Actors Vikram and Simbu said the film touched them very much.
Director Sasikumar also announced his next plan in the meeting. Following Nadodi directed by Samudrakani, in which he is the protagonist, he plans to direct a film in January 2009.
