A four-day Malabar Video Fest and Digital Cinema Workshop will be organized at Payyannur, Kannur, in the last week of September. Beginning on September 27, it is organised by Deen Dayal, a young digital film-maker.
In a press meet on Tuesday, Dayal said that the fete was aimed at training creative-minded youths in new technologies such as high-definition cinema, 3D composing, virtual cinematography, wrapping, character animation and animation acting, and encouraging them to produce digital and animation cinemas. The video fest would include video film competitions and exhibition.
The training programme with the assistance of experts in high definition cinema will include classes by people having expertise in digital cinema. The workshop is restricted to people talented in acting, modelling, digital film-making, animation and composing.
Though digital films are common in the West, they are only in their beginning stages in the country. The new technologies in the field offer tremendous job opportunities across the world, he added.
Entries have been invited for competitions in short films, documentaries and music videos. The best short film and documentary will get Rs. 10,000 each and the winner in the best music film category will get Rs. 5,000. To register your names, contact by phone.
