Going against all logic, Ram Gopal Varma's horror film, Phoonk, seems to be doing brisk business at the box office. The director is undoubtedly excited that he has managed to finally break the jinx which has been plaguing him for a while now. In fact, Phoonk is believed to have done good business even after the weekend.
Last Friday saw Ramu's Phoonk releasing along with Nishikant Kamat's Mumbai Meri Jaan and Sanjay Chhel's Maan Gaye Mughall e Azam, starring Mallika Sherawat and Paresh Rawal. Ramu is believed to be going around proclaiming that his crow got in more crowds than Mallika's sex appeal. While the crow was payed just Rs 500, the actors were definitely paid in crores. Phoonk is believed to have been made on a budget of Rs 2 crore and is already believed to have made Rs 5 crore so far. It is being said that the hype and hula are surrounding the film, especially the competition about giving Rs 5 lakh to anyone who can sit through the movie alone, has generated such a good initial. But Ramu contends that his film received a good initial even on Monday and refuses to credit it to the hype. He is rightly crowing about the film's good show at the box office and taking pot shots at all concerned. How success changes people.
