After lying low for a while, actor Shreyas Talpade is ready for some action again. His last outing at the box office, Bombay to Bangkok, directed by good friend Nagesh Kuknoor, was quite a disaster. But now the actor will soon be trying his luck at the box office all over again with his next film Welcome to Sajjanpur directed by veteran Shyam Benegal.
Benegal's film is one that Talpade is really looking forward to. He plays the only literate character in a village of illiterates, who makes his living by reading and writing letters for the villagers. He is cast opposite actress Amrita Rao in the film. Working with the veteran director, he feels was like going back to school. He professes to have learnt a lot about the nuances of filmmaking from Benegal. The actor, who began his career playing a handicapped person in the film Iqbal, is quite thankful that the conventional perception about actors has undergone a massive change in the years. It is that change in perceptions, which has allowed him to experiment with different roles and genres, he feels. It is the role and script which ultimately matters, he feels, and not just one's looks. After this lull, the actor has quite a few other films lined up for release, besides the Benegal feature. Some of his films which will soon be hitting the theatres includes, Paying Guest with Riya Sen, Golmaal Returns with Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor and Arshad Warsi, Click with Sneha Ullal and Kuknoor's Aashayein with John Abraham and Sonal Sehgal. It seems that this period of lying will soon be changing for Talpade.
