It's not often that Hindi film producers honour their directors or are willing to share any profit with them, unless decided earlier. It takes a rare producer like Ritesh Sidhwani and partner Farhan Akhtar , who believe in sharing the goodies.
The director of Rock On, Abhishek Kapoor's fee for directing Rock On had been decided and fixed for Rs 11 lakh. But after the film's success, the producers decided to hike the amount. No one had expected the film to turn out so well, least of all its producers. But since the film had a great opening, the producers decided to do their bit for Abhiskeh in their own way. It is believed that Ritesh and Farhan called the director into their office, some four days after the film's release and handed him a cheque of Rs 25 lakh, which is double of what was due to him. Without going to into details, all that Abhishek said was that he had been paid much more than what he was promised. The director naturally is felling very touched by this kind gesture from his producers. Incidentally, he is now toying with the idea of making his next film, for which he has a few scripts in mind. All that he is willing to reveal is that it will be absolutely different from Rock On. But to come back to the gesture, guess it takes one director to understand the worth of another.
