The three releases of the week, Drona, Kidnap and Ramchand Pakistani, all released a day earlier to cash in on the long weekend. But unfortunately neither of the films could have any impact on the box office, specially the much touted Drona and Kidnap.

The box office showing of these two films has proved again that the audience is no fool and that a film needs to have some substance if it is to appeal to them. Sanjay Gadhvi's Kidnap had a very good opening of around 70 to 80 per cent in most multiplexes in the city and other metros but not so good in the smaller towns. But the collections o the film fell by almost 25 per cent on the second day. The film is unlikely to create any dhoom at the box office. Goldie Behl's massively mounted Drona, was another disappointment at the box office. It managed an opening of only 50 to 55 per cent. But like Kidnap, the collections of the film dropped from the second day onwards. Neither of these two films are likely to show any kind of a turnaround. As for the third release of the week, it was the Pakistani film, Ramchand Pakistani. A small film, it could barely rope in crowds and had a below average opening. Of last week's releases, Hari Puttar A Comedy Of Terrors and Rafoo Chakkar Fun On The Run, both have failed to create any impact on the box office. The film which is enjoying a good run in its second week, however is, Shyam Benegal's Welcome To Sajjanpur. Next week, will see the release of the much awaited Hello, a film based on Chetan Bhagat's novel, It Happened One Night At A Call Centre. The film has been directed by Atul Agnihotri and stars Salman Khan and Sohail Khan among others.
