If Amitabh Bachchan had not been hospitalized, then his son and daughter in law would now be in Kochi shooting for Mani Ratnam's next, co starring the two. The film's schedule has currently been put on hold.
It seems that Mani's film's schedule was to begin on October 12, right after the Big B's birthday. But ever since he was admitted to hospital, the schedule has been postponed indefinitely. It is obvious that Mani will now only start his film once the senior actor is released from hospital. Incidentally, this is the second time that this is happening. In 2005, when Aishwarya and Abhishek were shooting together for J. P. Dutta's Umrao Jaan, the Big B had fallen sick as well and had to be admitted to hospital. Of course, it is not reportedly so serious this time. But knowing how Abhishek is, he is unlikely to begin shooting till the Big B is not back on his feet. Family matters a lot for this young actor, be it his or his wife's Aishwarya's. He is one of the first to respond to a family crisis. Family takes precedence over work for this young man. So guess, Mani will have to wait a while if he wants Abhishek and Ash's dates. This is the film, of which it had been rumored that it was based on the Ramayana. But it has since come to light that it is about caste issues.
