John Abraham's career is suddenly going nowhere. A couple of poor films which failed at the box office have now made distributors wary of him. That can be the only reason why Aashayein has failed to find a release date as yet.

Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, Aashayein was due to release in June this year. It was then pushed to July. The reason gave was that the actor would not be able to promote the film as he was busy with his brother's wedding. But July came and went and Aashayein is yet to see the light of day. The reason now being given is the non show at the box office by films like Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal and No Smoking, which starred John. The latest is that the makers of the film want to now release it after the release of Dostana, being produced by Karan Johar. The film's cast consists of Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan, besides John. Dostana is being considered a very safe proposition by the makers of Aashayein. Hence, they want to ride on the film's success and release their film post the release of Dostana. But they probably did not count on the miserable year that Priyanka has been having so far. She is banking heavily on Fashion and Dostana. As for Abhishek, his first release of the year, Drona, flopped miserably. He too would be looking to resurrect his fortunes with this film. And John too joins the gang. Too many expectations seem to be resting on this film. It remains to be seen how they are fulfilled or not.
