The Satish Kaushik directed Karzzzz, produced T Series, has evoked mixed responses and reviews. Without going into the merits and demerits of the film, one can safely say that the film has made its money for its makers. T Series has already made its profit by selling the film off to Reliance.
Reliance released the film with as many prints as possible and with far too many shows; hence the film could not open to a full house... But in single theatres, the film fared much better. Karzzzz opened with collections ranging between 40 to 50 per cent at multiplexes. At single theatres, it did slightly better. One of the advantages that the Himesh Reshammiya starrer had was the absence of any competition. It will have a safe run home for a while. The second film releasing this week was Jagmohan Mundhra's Shoot At Sight and RD Mallik's Cheenti Cheenti Bang Bang. Both films seem to have failed at the box office. The previous week's Hello, directed by Atul Agnihotri, is having a rather bad time at the box office, with its shows being reduced drastically. Kidnap and Drona are around, but just about. Next week, the box office will see the release of Samir Karnik's Heroes, starring Mithun Chakraborty, Sunny Deol, Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Bobby Deol, Preity Zinta and Vatsal Seth. The second film to try its fate at the box office will be Yash Raj Films' Roadside Romeo, a animation film by Jugal Hansraj.
