Tabu and Amitabh Bachchan were a treat to watch in the bitter sweet comedy Cheeni Kum. Finally, it seemed that there was an actress who could match the Big B, scene for scene, where acting prowess and screen presence is concerned.
Well, for all of those, who loved them, there is some good news ahead as the fussy actress has given the go ahead to director Balki to act in the sequel to Cheeni Kum, opposite the Big B. Tabu is known to be quite choosy and fastidious about her roles. But in recent times, the actress has signed two films, opposite the Big B. The first is Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi's The Legend Of Kunal, based on the life of King Ashoka. Tabu will be playing the Emperor's wife and the Emperor will be played by Bachchan himself. The second film is Balki's sequel. Balki will first have to complete Pa, which stars the Bachchans, father, son and daughter in law, Aishwarya. Cheeni Kum's sequel is set for the year after next and the actress has been asked to keep herself free. Tabu, who had recently even turned down a role in Billoo Barber, being directed by Priyadarshan, for reasons best known to her. Besides these two films, Tabu has two other films in her kitty right now; the first is a film which is directed by newbie Kedar Shinde, called To Baat Pakki, starring Sharman Joshi and Vatsal Seth. The second film is Vicky Chopra's Seasons Greetings. This will come as good news for Tabu fans, as she does so few films and always leaves her fans waiting for more. So the year ahead should prove to be fruitful for her fans.
