Farhan Akhtar has been quite kicked about this project for a while now. In fact, Farhan is believed to have started working on this script right after the release of his directorial debut, Dil Chahta Hai. But if the buzz is to be believed, then Farhan and his partner, Ritesh Sidhwani, have decided to shelve Voices From The Sky.

The subject was very close to Farhan's heart. Voices From The Sky was set in the period right after the discovery of the telephone as a means of communication. But Farhan had a lot of problems with the casting for the film. He had initially settled on Saif Ali Khan to play the lead role, but it seems that the actor was not too keen to do the film, as he quoted a very large fee for the movie. Then, one heard that Farhan has moved on to Akshaye Khanna. All seemed well till the Farhan and Ritesh duo realized that the film's cost was way beyond what they could hope to recover with Akshaye in the lead. Hence, it made business sense to shelve the project for now. That is what the duo is believed to have done so. Farhan is much too savvy to follow his heart, just like that. It must make business sense as well, right?
