EMI proved to be the last straw. It seems that after the dismal showing of the film, Sanjay Dutt and Ekta Kapoor seem to have parted ways. What it means is that Balaji Motion Pictures and Sanjay Dutt Productions have allegedly broken off their partnership, which they formed in July this year.
The two production houses had a nine film deal worth Rs 500 crore for three years. It seems that Dutt was supposed to act in the films as well and had even been paid a hefty sum as advance. Apparently, it was the Balaji Boss, Ekta, who called off the deal. The lady, who is very particular about accountability, was peeved with the shoddy manner in which EMI's publicity was handled. Neither Dutt nor Suniel Shetty, who was the co producer of the film, were present at a press conference held on the eve of the film's release. This lack of commitment was among the many factors which helped shape her decision to call off the deal. However, reportedly has no hard feeling where Dutt is concerned. Balaji Motion Pictures does not have a great track record where films are concerned this year. Even their earlier venture, Mission Istanbul bombed at the box office. If the news is correct, then another Bollywood partnership comes to an end.
