Abhishek Bachchan is very happy with the way his performance turned out in Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana. His portrayal of a straight character, who pretends to be gay, seems to have gone down very well with hi fans and the public in general.
The actor is quite cool with the fact that he is now the next gay icon after Hrithik Roshan. In fact, he is believed to have said that he considers it to be a matter of great pride. The actor has reason to be happy, after all, he has managed to be part of a hit film. After the dismal showing of Drona, Abhishek badly needed a successful film and Dostana did that for him. Sarkar Raj, which came earlier in the year, was his first hit of the year. The actor feels that he had to work hard on making it all seem natural and not go overboard. Also he wanted to avoid caricature. It seems that he succeeded brilliantly. With Dostana going strong at the box office still, the actor can now sit back and congratulate himself on a year well spent. He has quite a few interesting films on hand as well. One of them is of course, Mani Ratnam's Raavan and then there is Rakesh Mehra's Dilli 6.
