The art of makeup and makeovers has never really penetrated the Hindi film industry. There was Kamal Hassan down south, who realized the importance of makeup and used techniques from Hollywood in many of his films. But Bollywood is still quite oblivious to the finer points of the art.

Bollywood is known to believe that just the addition of a moustache, or the removal of one, can alter a person's look, which is actually quite a primitive thought in the evolution of makeup. The recent Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi also played with the same thought and the two identities of Shah Rukh Khan were just differentiated by the addition and subtraction of a moustache. It seems that ad filmmaker and director of Cheeni Kum, Balki, is more than keen to give the art of makeup its due respect. According to reports, for his next film, Pa, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan, he has managed to enroll the services of a renowned Hollywood makeup artiste called Stephen Dupuis, the man responsible for transforming actor Robin Williams in the film Mrs Doubtfire. Balki is wanting to change the Big B's entire look for his film and that is where the makeup expert comes in. The Big B too has gracefully decided to surrender himself to the expert. The film, Pa, will be shot in Delhi and Gwalior and focuses on the father son relationship.
