Music maestro created history yesterday, when he won the Golden Globe for Best Composer at the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards function held at Los Angeles. Rahman won the award for Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire.
The Golden Globe is a first for any Indian. And it seems just appropriate that someone like Rahman bagged the award and the distinction of being the first Indian to do so. And most appropriately, realising the historical significance of the occasion, the music composer dedicated his award to the one billion population of India. In his acceptance speech Rahman also thanked director Danny Boyle and producer Christian Colson. The Slumdog Millionaire has close associations with India, with actor Anil Kapoor and Dev Patel also acting in the film. The two Indian actors have also come in for a lot of acclaim for their performances. In fact, it would not be far from truth to say, that Rahman is the most deserving of this kind of an international honour. He has really done his country and admirers proud.
