It is not often that people do what they preach, but in 'Shivaji's case, they had made their minds up that they are going to set an example.
Normally, film stars get only 25% of their actual pay in 'white'. The remaining 75% of their salary comes in black money. They do this to simply avoid taxes. This is one of the well-known secrets about the industry.
'Shivaji' talks about removing black money. So, the members of the cast decided that it wouldn't be fair to star in such a film and then get their salaries in black. They decided that they'd collect their entire pay in white. AVM, the production company was very pleased too.
All the taxes were deducted at source and only the remaining amount was paid to the stars.
