There seems to be some bond between Tamil cinema and saamiyars. The comedy scenes are always woven around these saamiyars and Sathyaraj is world famous for his irreverent comedy portrayals as a saamiyar.

So far, all Tamil films have depicted saamiyars as fakes and Sathyaraj's 'Saamiyar' is no exception.

In this film directed by Senthil Kumar, they are going to poke fun at all saffron clad saamiyars from the pavadai saamiyar to the Palakkad Jeeyar. To be affected most would be Jayendrar and Premananda.

When Hindu organizations heard about this, their tempers started to boil. They released a statement that Jayendra and Saibaba are looked up to by millions of devotees and it is wrong to poke fun of such esteemed leaders. They are determined to do anything possible to stop this film from seeing the light of day.

Our folks have expected just this reaction and basking in this free publicity, they have started work on the film with gusto.

It is surprising that whether it is Sathya Saibaba or Sathyaraj acting as him, there still seems to be some controversy or other!
