Director Samy says one can see the quality and emotional reaction in his film 'Mirugam' that one usually sees in Iranian films.

Just like his film 'Uyir' was much spoken about, Samy raises expectations by saying 'Mirugam' will also elicit such reactions.

Samy was asked about the story of 'Mirugam.'

"When reading Vairamuthu's 'Kallikaattu,' what one can see in one's mind's eye are forests and dusty villages. In such a dry land, the hero of the story is Iyanar with a heart bereft of feelings. There's a hidden animal in every human being, but Iyanar is an animal to beat all animals.

Starting from his mother and wife, others also try to reform him. But he sees no signs of changing. Because of circumstances, he gets caught in a situation. Whether he reforms or dies in that situation forms the rest of the story.

Aadhi, who has acted as hero in a Telugu film directed by Teja, is the hero of the film. Padmapriya plays his wife. I have given both equal opportunity to display their acting skills. Sona, Ganja Karuppu and Banuchander in an important role also act in the film. About 90% of the shooting is complete," says Samy.

Most of the shooting is supposed to have been done in a village called Kariyapatti off Madurai. Near Kurandi village, a set of 44 houses is to be put up a 2000 acre vast expanse. This village is to be called Aayarkulam in the film.

Instead of taking along supporting actors, the director has cast people from the nearby small villages of Kurandi, Arasakulam and Aaviyur.
