Anurag Kashyap is having some anxious times. His DEV D releases in a week from now and while he is busy looking at the final nitty-gritty of the film's release, he soon gets on the job of promoting the film closest to his heart - GULAAL."GULAAL is one film that I have really cherished making. I wanted to bring it to the screens for quite some time and now that it is ready for release, I can't wait to see how audience grasps it. There is so much happening currently - first DEV D and now GULAAL. There is hardly any time to breathe or relax", says Anurag Kashyap who was also seen in a hilarious cameo in just released LUCK BY CHANCE.
"If you compare DEV D and GULAAL, they are so different from each other. It's an entirely different style, ambience, setting and narrative of both the films. If DEV D is North pole, GULAAL is South pole", adds Anurag Kashyap who had two releases in 2007 - BLACK FRIDAY and NO SMOKING.
GULAAL is set in Rajpur, a fictional city of Rajasthan, where a member of the erstwhile royal family stakes claim to the land of Rajasthan and wants to go back to the days of royalty. He wants Rajputana back from the Government of India and challenges the very idea of democracy. His history backs him, his people too, but the power corrupts him.
The film which releases on 13th March sees Kay Kay Menon playing the role of one of the key protagonists called Dukey Bana who masterminds a Rajputana movement in order to have a separate state ruled by Rajputs. With music and lyrics by Piyush Mishra, the film also stars Aditya Srivastav, Piyush Mishra, Raj Singh Chaudhary, Ayesha Mohan, Abhimanyu Singh, Deepak Dobriyal, Mahi Gill, Pankaj Jha, Jessie Randhawa and Mukesh Bhatt in principal roles.
