LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Socialite Nicole Richie arrived in court on Friday to enter what court sources said was a plea deal on charges of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol that was expected to result in a brief jail term.
Richie, 25, the co-star of "The Simple Life" with Paris Hilton, was stopped by police in December after she was seen driving the wrong way on a Los Angeles freeway. It was her second charge of driving under the influence in four years and a conviction could result in a jail term of between four days and a year.
Richie, the daughter of singer Lionel Richie, arrived at court in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale wearing a black shift dress and was accompanied by her boyfriend Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden. Celebrity magazines say she is three months pregnant.
Hilton spent three weeks behind bars last month for violating probation in a drunken driving case.
