Abhishek Bachchan rung in his 33rd birthday in New York, along with wife Aishwarya Rai and parents, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. The actor had accompanied his wife to the US to attend the premier of her film Pink Panther 2. His parents also joined the couple for a quiet celebration.
The actor has a great year to look forward to, with Rakesh Mehra's Delhi 6 starring him set for release later this month. It will be followed this year with Mani Ratnam's Raavan. Last year did not begin well for the Bachchan scion, but he made up for it with the end of the year success of Dostana, starring him, Priyanka Chopra and John Abraham. The Big B's son has taken his time to flower and bloom. It was perhaps Mani ratnam who first gave him a role of substance in his film Yuva, which ensured that Abhishek got a lot of critical acclaim. He followed it up with more acclaim for his role in Guru, again directed by Mani. And now, there is Mani's Raavan. His career has been punctuated by more duds than successes but the actor has always been in the limelight because of his easy, laidback acting style. But he has the capacity to look and act intense as he did in Ram Gopal Verma's Sarkar and Sarkar Raj. Abhishek has the innate capacity to bounce back from any kind of adversity and has proved it time and again as he has recovered from debacles like Drona with a Dostana. Being the son of the great Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri is not the easiest of legacies to inherit but Abhishek seems to be doing just fine. Movietalkies.com would like to wish him a very happy birthday and a great year ahead.!
