When was the last time that a song was picturised which underlined the innocence of a girl on the threshold of adulthood, more so in the present generation? It would be difficult to pin point and search for this bench mark, even if one fine combs the films being made during the last decade. DELHI 6 in this way harks back to an era where a female star when she was making her debut was seen as innocence personified and the song that either she sung herself to announce to the world, that she has now become an adult or the song announcing her adulthood by her future lover became milestones of Hindi music.

Invariable these songs have always stuck a chord with the audience and Masak Ali from DELHI6 confirms the concept of film making that follows the same pattern all over the world where the innocence at the threshhold of adult hood becomes the hallmark for the film as also for he female actor. Be it ROMAN HOLIDAY or CASBLANCA in Hollywood as well, the threshold of adulthood has the same romance built into its picturisation. Remember the song in GURU which was picturized on Aishwarya Rai and which went on to fetch Rahman the best music director award in Filmfare Awards. As a matter of fact Rahman could be credited for giving introduction songs his best shot as he did in RANGEELA for Urmila Matondkar, and the song still announces the arrival of Urmila in various functions till date, sort of a signature tune for Urmila. Such is the impact of introductory songs that introduce a character of female star on the screen.

Blessed are the female stars who get a chance to be given a song that is a statement in coyness, innocence and inquisitiveness, and another example of this genre is that associated with Manisha Koirala in 1942: A LOVE STORY, and it was one of the best songs that Pancham composed, before he became the conductor of orchestra in the god's chamber.

So, a Sonam Kapoor needed a song like Masak Ali and Rahman has given her just that and given her a platform to re-launch her career. Besides, in conjunction, Abhishek Bachchan also has been given a song that could be one of the best songs in his repertoire for his life time to come, just like Mere Angne Mein from LAAWARIS. There might be an argument that Kajra re from BUNTY AUR BABLI can also be a sort of signature tune for Abhishek Bachchan but it cannot be, as in this song he shared the screen with his father and his wife. So Masak Ali could be the song that would be the signature tune for both Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam and Rahman and Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra would always have a happy reference with it for all times to come.
