'Slumdog Millionaire' picked up seven awards out of eleven nominations including the Best Film at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in London on Sunday night. A. R. Rahman bagged the award for The Best Original Score while Danny Boyle took away the Best Director Award. Held at the Royal Opera in London, BAFTA is considered as the British equivalent of the Oscars.
The other awards that the film bagged included Resul Pookutty for Best Sound Editing, Anthony Mod Mantle for Best Cinematography, Chris Dickens for Best Editing and Simon Beaufoy for Best Adapted Screenplay. With sweeping the BAFTA awards, 'Slumdog Millionaire' definitely looks like the hot favourite for the Academy Awards!
