As the first ever movie on The Simpsons hits the screen, a celebration on home video is underway to mark the 20th Anniversary of one of the legendary animated sitcom of all times. Excel Home Videos has lined up a series of DVDs of the shows that has propelled its characters to the cult status they enjoy. The DVDs include THE SIMPSONS GREATEST HITS, THE SIMPSONS HEAVEN AND HELL, THE SIMPSONS AROUND THE WORLD, THE SIMPSONS GO TO HOLLYWOOD, THE SIMPSONS GONE WILD, THE SIMPSONS CRIME AND PUNISHMENT, THE RAIDERS OF THE LOST FRIDGE, THE SIMPSONS.COM, THE SIMPSONS FILM FESTIVAL and the SIMPSONS BART WARS among others.

Says M N Kapasi, MD, Excel Home Videos, "Keeping in mind its growing popularity in Indian and its theatrical debut we have brought together a plethora of collector DVDs for The Simpsons fans."

The Simpsons created by Matt Groening, is a satirical parody of the "Middle American" lifestyle epitomized by its title family, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, their dog Santa's Little Helper and their cat Snowball II. The show is set in the fictional town of Springfield, and ridicules many aspects of American culture, society as a whole, and television itself. The Simpsons has received several major awards including 23 Emmies. Time magazine named it the century's best television series ever; it was also awarded the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Simpsons is currently the longest-running American sitcom, and the longest-running animated program.

In India, The Simpsons has gained popularity since it began featuring on Indian Television over the past years. This is first time that DVDs of the show has been released in such magnitude in India.
