By now, it almost expected. Before the release of every big film, there is always some last minute hitch that crops up between producers and multiplexes, leading to utter chaos on a Friday. Well, this time the producers seem to be toeing a much tougher line.

In a rare occurrence, the producers seem to have come together to tackle this problem head on. According to sources, the producers' body met with the multiplexes a few days ago to come to a solution to this vexing problem. The recent victims of this last minute blackmailing by multiplexes have been films like Delhi 6 and Dev D. The producers' body has decided not to release any new film from April 4 onwards if a proper agreement on the terms is not agreed upon. The bone of contention, as always, has been the terms of percentage. The producers are asking for is, what they feel, is their rightful share in ticket revenues. According to them, the multiplex owners are making their money on not just the tickets but also the refreshments that they sell, car parking etc. All they want is an equal share in the ticket sales. Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has been appointed the head of the producers' body is believed to have said that if they (all film producers) stand together, the ban may be averted as they may be able to get the multiplexes to see sense. It is a need need situation here, with both parties needing the other to survive and do business, therefore let's hope that some solution is reached otherwise the impasse could affect the release date of quite a few films which are scheduled to release in April and May
