It was a disastrous week at the box office with all the three releases Karma Aur Holi, 13B and Dhoonte Reh Jaoge crashing at the box office. It is probably not the best time of the year for film releases, what with the examination at its peak this month.
Vikram Kumar's 13B probably fared the best among the three, managing to get opening collections ranging between 20 to 25 per cent, a figure which went up by the evening and the weekend. Even though the film's protagonist R Madhavan has been at the receiving end of many compliments, it is doubtful that it will translate into good news at the box office for the movie. As for Manish Gupta's Karma Aur Holi and Umesh Shukla's Dhoonte Reh Jaoge, the other two releases, there was not much to chose between them, with each managing collections ranging between 10 to 15 per cent in most areas, with collections expected to drop during the week. As for last week's releases, Kisse Pyaar Karoon and Siddharth the Prisoner, both have fared very badly at the box office. Of the other films, Delhi 6's collections have also been registering a drop. Releasing this Friday is Anurag Kashyap's political saga, Gulal, Puneet Sira's Jai Veeru and writer Sooni Taraporevala's Little Zizou. It should be interesting to see whether these films are able to beat the box office blues.
