London, July 31 (ANI): Animal rights activist and former model Heather Mills has decided to buy the field adjoining her new home so that she doesn't have to see the cows ordained for slaughter.
Mills has bought a nine-bedroom house for 3 million pounds and Devon-born heifers can easily wander into the garden of her property.
The 160 acres field belong to John and Barbara Smith, who were not keen on selling the land in the beginning.
Mills aides have approached them twice to discuss the deal.
"I said first of all I don't want to sell. I have now indicated that I would be prepared to talk about it but that's all. I don't know if I am interested in anything at the moment," the Daily Mail quoted Smith, as saying.
"Even if she managed to buy it, she could not move the footpath because you can't close a public footpath." "(Heather's aide) came over to me and asked whether I would be prepared to sell my land. No price has been discussed yet".
"We were told that initially she didn't like looking at the cows on our land because she is a vegetarian," Mrs Smith said.
However, residents also believe that Mills is insistent on buying the area to ensure that she can keep the paparazzi away.
"This is clearly all about her privacy. From the public footpath it's possible to see into her property," one resident said. (ANI)
