Well we are getting poetic in honour of none other than, the jewel of India, the renowned poet, lyricist and director Gulzar saab, as he is affectionately known, who recently was honoured a memento by his 'Chopal 'mates for winning Oscar for the song 'Jai Ho' in the film SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE. Chopal is a foundation, an alliance of creative people coming from different walks of life like Arts, literature, theatre, cinema, etc where these creative minds meet once a month to discuss, share, put their views on the various topics, subjects. And Gulzar saab is also one of its member.
Each member of Chopal honoured Gulzar on this occasion with their own style. Some by singing songs than others by reciting poems, shaayaris, etc. Among the lots present, renowned Painter Charan Sharma presented Gulzar saab with Lord Gautam Buddha's painting and book. ''Gulzar saab usually stays away from any award function or honours. This is the first time he attended the honour function. It was great to see Gulzar saab gracing the same. Even Gulzarji got emotional on the occasion and expressed with sheer delight that Chopal is like his family. Since he is very fond of Gautam Buddha so I presented and honoured him with Buddha's painting and books. Bas yahi samaj lo Doston ne milkey Dost ki khushi manayi,'' Says Charan Sharma, the much respected name in the world of Indian Contemporary Art.
