PetaDishoom – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) - India's youth division conducted an online poll for the hottest veggies in India.

The hot and happening Kareena Kapoor bagged the first place in the female category and Madhavan was voted the hottest male vegetarian.

Though his entry to the film industry was through Manirathnam’s Alaipayuthey, Maddy first starred in Hindi TV soap. After a half a dozen flops, he finally managed to capture the hearts of the North Indians with his effective portrayal in Rang De Basanti and Guru. Madhavan had always encouraged people to become a vegetarian in order to lead a healthier life.

He also featured in an ad, where he crammed himself inside a cage to show how the chickens suffer. Madhavan once said: "Chickens may not be cute and cuddly like some animals, but they still feel pain just like you and me. It's simple – I love animals, so I don't eat them".
