Producer-actor Prakash Raj in Kollywood circles is known as someone who eats drinks and breathes cinema.
According to this character artiste it is only fair to give to the industry which has given him so much and has made him what he is today. He pumps in all his finances on projects which he deems good unmindful of results or profits.
It is this quality of his which has led to the making of such lovely ‘feel good’ films like Azhagiya Theeye, Mozhi, Kanda Naal Mudal etc. to name a few. At this juncture it is definitely not an exaggeration to credit this remarkable actor for having breathed a whiff of fresh air into Tamil films.
Recently it has been reported that cinematographer Jeevan of films like Kokki and Thirutham has approached Prakash with a script titled Mayilu and after listening to the story the latter has immediately agreed to fund the film. The very fact that Prakash has decided to produce the film itself gives a rough idea about the type of the project. For a generation which has grown watching Kamal and Rajni films, the name Mayilu will certainly bring a wave of nostalgia as this is the name of Sridevi in ’16 vayadinile’ the trendsetter of the eighties. Like how the old Mayilu stole many a hearts, let us hope this Mayilu also does the same.
