Chennai 28’s 100th day function had some unexpected Chief Guests. Yes! The two pillars of Tamil cinema, Rajini and Kamal made a sudden appearance to the shock and surprise of many of those present at the venue. Both the actors, together, gave away the mementoes to the actors and technicians of Chennai 28. The event took place at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, Chennai on 5th August.

Speaking at the function the superstar stressed on the importance of friendship. He said that friends are as important as one’s guru. Rajini was extravagant in showering praises on S.P Balasubramaiam and Gangai Amaran for being instrumental in their sons’ – S.P.B. Charan and Venkat Prabhu - victory. He also said that the two should always work together in tandem to give out many mega hits.

Kamal said that Chennai 28 has revived his interest in cricket. Though the parents may be happy with this victory they should urge their children to go in search of more. This was the advice that Kamal Haasan had for SPB and Gangai Amaran. Stating that Yuvan Shankar Raja was highly talented and gifted, he said that his music in one film never reflected on the other.

Those who participated in the function include Dhanush, wife Aishwarya, “Paruthiveeran” Karthik, “Jeyam” Ravi and Sangeetha. S.P. Balasubramaniam welcomed the gathering and Gangai Amaran sang the prayer song.
