Washington, Aug 9 (ANI): Melanie Brown aka Scary Spice wed beau Stephen Belafonte in a secret ceremony in June held at Las Vegas.

The wedding was first disclosed by gossip site Perezhilton.com.

Confirming the news of the nuptials was a marriage license filed in Clark County, Nevada, as well as Brown's rep who released a statement.

"Regarding the marriage, Mel and Stephen have know each other for many years and were great friends first. Now they are deeply in love. The two are very happy together," People magazine quoted the rep, as saying.

Brown and Belafonte, a movie producer, first got together when the former was pregnant with movie star Eddie Murphy's baby Angel Iris.

When their romance went public, she said, "He was a really good friend and good support to me during my pregnancy. He's a really sweet guy."

Scary Spice, in the meantime, is engaged in a bitter paternity battle with Murphy. (ANI)
